My Thoughts:

What a rip-roaring funny novel!! Jen Turano did it again with her newest novel, Storing Up Trouble. From the first chapter, she had me laughing and wondering why her heroines try to act so brave, but end up doing silly little things. From then on, Beatrix finds herself in more trouble. There is a donkey with his own mind to gloves in the store that cause Beatrix to get into some trouble. I enjoyed learning about how women workers were treated. No wonder the women were up in arms. The romance is sweet. Progressing naturally. Overall, Jen Turano's newest novel, Storing Up Trouble, is a delightful way to spend a couple of hours. I can't wait to go back and re-read all three books in this series again. Highly recommend Jen Turano to every reader!

Ill-equipped to handle the intricacies of mingling within the New York Four Hundred, Poppy becomes embroiled in one hilarious fiasco after another, doomed to suffer a grand societal failure instead of being deemed the diamond of the first water her grandmother longs for her to become.

My Thoughts:

I adore Jen Turano's writing. She brings the Gilded Age to life and creates remarkable and remember able characters to life. With her second addition to her American Heiress series, Diamond in the Rough, this is no exception. Poppy grew up on a horse farm in Pennsylvania and is having her season in New York. She is completely out of her element and falls, literary, over and over again on her face. She keeps getting into scraps and allowing me to shake my head in laughter as she tries to save her reputation. She transforms by the end of the season but shows her heart by wanting to do good for those less wealthy. On the other hand, Reginald, the hero, keeps his true identity a secret, but is always there to rescue Poppy. There romance appears a little disjointed, but I believe Turano wrote their romance this way on purpose. It made their happily-ever-after a little more sweeter. As for the plot, I really enjoyed spending time with these characters. I got so wrapped up in their lives that I even googled Fifth Avenue mansions during the 1890's to have an idea of how HUGE these little homes actually were. I love this story and can't wait to get my hand on the final installment. Thanks for another wonderful story, Turano.

Mr. Ian MacKenzie is known for his savvy business sense and has built his reputation and fortune completely on his own merits. But when his adopted parents are in need of a new housekeeper and Isadora is thrown into his path, he's unexpectedly charmed by her unconventional manner.

Neither Isadora nor Ian expected to find the other so intriguing, but when mysterious incidents on the farm and the truth of Isadora's secret threaten those they love, they'll have to set aside everything they thought they wanted for a chance at happy-ever-after.

My Thoughts:

Jen Turano is one of my favorite go-to writers. With her introduction to her latest series with Flights of Fancy, Turano did not disappoint. From the first chapter, I was drawn into the world of Izzy in New York and wanted to know more about this Duke fellow. Within a couple of chapters, Turano had me laughing out loud as I pictured some of the images she created with her words. She does a wonderful job at coming up with really hilarious scenes, but she allows me to have a moment of breather too. The story moved at a nice pace, and I completely got wrapped up in Izzie and Taylor's life. True to Turano fashion, the romance had me laughing, and I loved how she has the couple connect with a piece of literature, which she has done in a couple of her other books. I love watching the characters interact during this time period. Turano included a quick moment of suspense near the end of the novel, and it didn't feel out of place for me. It seemed to fit right in with what Turano set up in the beginning chapters. Overall, Jen Turano created another hit out of the park with Flights of Fancy. I anxiously await what comes next in this series.
