Bible Verse: James 1:19 -20

 By Kelly Bridgewater

" My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

Anger.

Something that tackles all of us at more than one moment in our lives.

My mom has believed that anger is a sin.

No, it is not.

How we handle sin is what is a sin.

If we become mad at someone and kill them, yes, that is a sin.

If we become mad and hit someone, that is a sin.

But to have anger.

No, this is an emotion given to us by God. Just like love, peace, joy, kindness . . .

David became angry and hid from God. Saul became angry and tore his cloak. Job became angry and listened to his friends over God when Satan tempted him. Paul tried to persecute Christians and run from God.

But . . . God still used all these people for his purpose.

What about you? How do you handle anger when it comes? I enjoy writing in my journal about my hurt feelings. Much easier than yelling at others and making a lasting awful memory.
