Lynette Eason: Countdown

 By Kelly Bridgewater

A stalker who wants to finish what he started. A US Marshal who’s vowed to protect his charge. And one woman who is determined to put the past in the past.

Flight paramedic Raina Price has been running so long it's hard to stop. To escape a dangerous stalker, she changed her name and disappeared, building a new life with the help of a friend from her time in juvie. It feels good to put her energies into saving people's lives, but because her stalker was never found, she's never stopped looking over her shoulder. And one can only run so far before the past finally catches up.

US Marshal Vincent Corelli's job is to hunt down fugitives and protect those who are assigned to him. When Raina is almost killed right in front of him, he vows to protect her at all costs--whether it's his job or not. Together they work to solve the mystery of Raina's past. But someone is out to make sure Raina doesn't live long enough to do it.

Countdown is the breathless conclusion to USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason's thrilling Extreme Measures series.

My Thoughts:

Countdown by Lynette Eason features a past that comes back to haunt the main heroine, Raina. With plenty of twists and turns, Eason throws her readers and characters under the bus by tightening the noose tighter and tighter as the story moves along. There were moments of high energy and downtime to allow the readers to get to know Raina and Vincent. As for an Eason novel, this one was not my favorite. The romance seemed a little unbelievable. They meet, and Raina shares all her past secrets with Vincent. Things she did not even share with the other three girls that she had worked with for a couple of years. I found it weird that Vincent would drop everything in his life to help her solve her past mystery that has come back to haunt her. Overall, Countdown by Lynette Eason was okay at best. I needed more action and believability for the romance.

Lynette Eason: Critical Threat

By Kelly Bridgewater

FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn't mean they're not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer--in prison but certainly not out of Sam's life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter's MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They've met before--and though Grace thought they'd made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They'll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case--especially because it's about to get personal.

USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason doesn't give you time to catch your breath in this breakneck race to stop a serial killer.

My Thoughts:

Critical Threat by Lynette Eason features a serial killer on the loose. The killer is mocking a past serial killer, and the connections are drawing close to home. The hero, Sam Monroe, is the son of a serial killer who has turned into a psychiatrist. He wants to remove the stereotype of the images of his father from his persona. He works really hard with Grace, the heroine, as she tries to find out who is leaving these women in parks with their tongues cut out. Grace uses her skills to try to stop the killer, but it draws personal as he targets her over and over again. Eason’s writing style is top notch. She dives nicely into the action and does not let go. She allows moments where the characters can flirt with the idea of a relationship together, but the tension keeps getting deeper and deeper as the story moves along. Was I surprised at the villain? Yes, because there is really nothing in the entire plot that leads to this unknown character. No red herrings or even a mention of his name until the climactic moment. I wanted this person to play around the edges of the story to make the villain a little more believable for audiences. Overall, Critical Threat by Lynette Eason is a dynamic suspense story with a serial killer, and Eason delivers exactly what she promised. A non-stop action story with a hint of romance. A keeper for my shelf.

Lynette Eason: Crossfire

By Kelly Bridgewater

FBI special agent Julianna James is a top-notch negotiator who has never lost a hostage. Surely she can manage to take care of her much younger sister, Dottie, who showed up unannounced to live with Julianna while she finished her senior year of high school.

A former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Snyder left the army after a tragic incident that he can't get past. Now he's working as a high school resource officer until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life.

Their paths cross when Julianna is called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay's sister. Impressed and a bit intimidated by the calm, capable woman with the dark hair and blue eyes, Clay invites her to speak at his school. Dottie's school.

But as the anniversary of a school shooting from Julianna's past approaches, it becomes clear that her perfect record is about to be tested and that Dottie is at risk. If Julianna and Clay can't figure out who's behind the attacks, more innocent people will die--and Julianna just might be one of them.

This intense story of revenge and redemption from bestselling author and master of suspense Lynette Eason will have you up all night as you race toward the explosive finish.

My Thoughts:

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is a sweet revenge story sprinkled with romance and sisterly love. Right from the opening chapter, Eason draws readers into the action with a court scene and the explosive power of everything going wrong. From then on, Eason keeps her foot on the gas, putting her characters through harrowing events after events. Anything to keep the pace of the novel on the rocks. Just the way I enjoy my suspense novels. As for the romance, it really does not take away from the suspense, it just happens on the sidelines of the plot, which is the way that I like my romance in a novel. As for the characters, Julianna cares a lot about her little sister. Even enough that she allows her little sister to move in with her to remove herself from the disastrous environment of her home life. A nice quality in a character to have. A heart that puts others before herself. As for the hero, he also has something from his past, which hero really does not, that affects his present day world. As for the story, it was a little different with a harrowing feat of heroics, but overall, it lines right up with what fans are expecting from Eason. Nothing but a non-stop thrill ride. Overall, Crossfire by Lynette Eason will delight romantic suspense fans and keep readers guessing to the climactic explosive ending.

Lynette Eason: Life Flight

 By Kelly Bridgewater

EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton is used to high stress situations, but being forced to land on a mountain in a raging storm with a critical patient--and a serial killer on the loose--tests her skills and her nerve to the limit. She survives with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield's help. But she's not out of the woods yet.

In the ensuing days, Penny finds herself under attack. And when news reaches Holt that he may not have gotten his man after all, it will take all he and Penny have to catch a killer--before he catches one of them.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.

My Thoughts:

What is better than an attempted life rescue in a helicopter that has to make an emergency landing where a serial killer is loose? That is exactly how Life Flight by Lynette Eason begins her new series. With plenty of action and running from a serial killer, Eason takes her readers for a ride from the first page. She grips their attention and does not let go. I flipped through the pages, wanting to see who the killer was and his motive behind his killings. Eason put plenty of twists and turns in the story. Definitely shows her skills at crafting another nail biting story that I can't wait to put in my library next to all her other books. Of course, this is a romantic suspense novel, so there is romance beating a heartbeat throughout the entire novel. It does not take over the whole plot, but it does allow the heroine and hero to have more of a game in the final climactic moment because of the budding emotions. Overall, Life Flight by Lynette Eason was a keeper in the suspense category for me. I can't wait to pick up the next book in the series.
